Sorry asked this before but never got 'round to buying one
    Need
A colour printer that will do good photos but also the occasional Word document.
Will only be used on home p.c so not going to need any heavy duty stuff.
Any ideas what I should go for?
Are these combined copiers/ scanners printers etc any good?
I'm totally clueless on this type of thing.
    Cheers for any suggestions

Got a Canon pixma iP3000 at work - we mainly run off word documents etc and the occasional image from the net - seems absolutely sound.</p>

Dare say there may be others folk recommend but for a good work a day printer I can't fault it.</p>

Hewlett Packard Photosmart 8250 InkJet Printer or one of its sister machines

Six seperate ink tanks (and seperate from the print heads) so very fast and you only need to change the empty colour.

Got an Epson R300 (I think it is) that does excellent photos etc.

Noticed that Morrison's had a Lexmark photo quality printer for about £40

Always check the price of ink refills before buying 'cheap printer'

    Wise words!

Some cartridges are eye wateringly expensive!

And we get all the cartridges for a tenner.

    inkraider.com - decent prices for non-branded refills.

Do you have more than one computer?

Alternatively, do you have a wireless network at home?

Some Photo Printers now have a network card built in (to plug straight into your network router / switch) - which means they can be easily shared between computers.

    May be something worth considering.....

    Wireless yes, one computer

The rest of what you say could be in russian - not v.g. on technology.
Looking at the Canon pixma ones at the moment

    RE:printer

Have already got the use of an HP officejet 7130 all-in-one (its like having a tank on your desk) Was having difficulty getting CD labels printed. Bought an Epson Stylus Photo R220 for £69 (knocked down from £99) This has six colour cartridges which you can replace seperately at around £3 each. You can also print directly onto a CD (brilliant) Will print up to A4. Well worth the money.
