Our record against QPR is dreadful, as we all know. They have won the last 6, 8 of the last 10 meetings, and 13 of the last 20. Is there any team(s) that we hold a similar record over? Or that we've always done well against?
We've always had a good record against York City. Also, away at Liverpool is 'always' a gimmee for us!
Do you actually think it matters? just wondering. Its just before every game the BBC publish such stats on previous meetings. But given these games were often so long ago, that none of the players or managers were involved, does it actually mean anything? or does the idea of boggy teams spook players into not being at their best?
In theory obviously it means sod all, but in practice . . . Lots of different players have played for us and failed to win at the Ricoh, Loftus Road, Carrow Road etc. Don't know what my point is. Just hope we break the hoodoo tonight.
It's just variance. Given there are 90 odd teams in the football league there are bound to be some where we have a great/awful record. Not because one team has found a way to consistently beat the other over 20 odd years, but just because we play enough teams that streaks like that are guaranteed to happen
Our Home record against QPR isnt too bad W12 D6 L6 - its our away record thats the real problem that is just awful That said we have lost our last 3 home games against them so should be due a win or at worst a draw
West Brom and Stoke haven't won at Oakwell since the 60's I think, and we've played both of them pretty regularly. In my time supporting us we've beaten the blunts many more times than we've lost it seems. Grounds that I don't ever recall us winning at (where we've played regularly) - Carrow Road, wherever Coventry are playing, only two wins at Hillsborough in my lifetime in god knows how many visits.
I think myself fortunate to have seen the Reds get a point at Loftus Road. It was in our 1st play off season. My standout memory is of Morgan ( when he was one of our favourites) marking A young Peter Crouch and out jumping him. We have not beaten QPR at their ground (whichever it was) since I was born.
I would not disagree with that. But that does not seem enough reason for the BBC to quote the stats every game.
stoke did win one at oakwell on boxing day in 86, and i remember it because i was there. (remember a week later we won 3-4 at Hull thanks to an ian chandler hat trick!). in fact we always had a good record at the old Boothferry park and up until recent seasons, we always won at London road Peterbrough and Kenilworth road Luton.
