For all the people moaning that the club aren't doing things right, here's the summary of what Hecky said during his press conference:

He wants to sign a couple of left backs, wingers and strikers. We've got bids in for players right now and he expects to sign a few before the Monday.

Two Championship clubs have made bids for Roberts (therefore not Burnley) but they'd only sell him if we had a replacement lined up AND they've met our valuation. Roberts has said clearly that he's a Barnsley player until Hecky tells him he's not. That doesn't mean that Burnley haven't agreed a price with us for when they sell Keane.

We've had bids in for numerous players and some have even been in and Hecky explained what was expected of them. One player decided to sign for someone else after hearing what would be expected of him. In Hecky's words "Good, he's not right for this club".

If that press conference doesn't fill you with confidence about the coming season then I don't know what will.

Not overly worried at all, as much as its a shame to be losing Robbo as he is a good leader and a local lad, we paid barely anything for him and he has played 2 seasons in the football league and is now set to leave for 5 million + if rumours are true which is a huge amount for someone with so little experience at football league level.

I have no doubt that Hecky, GG and the scouting team will be able to pluck some more great players out and we will be fine.

    In Hecky we trust

I think people have confidence in the manager, just not so much in the people above. Hecky is a good manager with the potential to be great, but the task is massive.

Hecky is not responsible for getting deals over the line and he doesn't set the budget. Therein lies the problem.

The player you mention that signed elsewhere, must be Conor McAleny. He was expected to sign, then ended up at Fleetwood.

Yorkshire Post are reporting that we want another defender to replace Roberts.

I don't think the club are doing things right. I think Hecky is doing a great job.

Great post JDB.The only people who moan are the ones who can't or won't admit the clubs project is working. They might get there wish one day and then they can say "I told you so" but until that day I /we should enjoy every moment of this great journey we're on.

You're right. It is working. We are buying players for a small amount and selling them on for a large profit.

How compatible that continues to be with being "successful" on the pitch remains in the balance.

Since the first phase of players started to be broken up, I've seen one win. We've won 4 games this calendar year I think.

What we have to hope happens is that the newest batch of players are good enough soon enough than the last batch.

To add to that, Gauthier said in his interview that we have targets in place for each position we wish to fill at the club, Roberts is the most professional player he's ever come across and Yiadom is an important member of our squad who'll still be here next season and we hope to secure his future for longer than that in the coming week.

We can't do anymore than trust the people in charge. And to be fair, there's no reason not to.

The only thing I thought was a bit odd was Roberts not asking for a move and being our player until told otherwise.

So why not just keep him and extend his contract?

    Turnover of players too high
Not maximising value of players - Hourihane and Winnall
Over reliance on younger players from lower divisions and reluctance to buy any proven quality
Not enough reinvestment into transfer fees/wage bill
    No spending whatsoever on infrastructure
No attempt to improve the match day experience

All my opinions of course - others are available.

Excellent post. It's a seemingly successful (football) business model, so kudos on that front to all concerned. How it transpires as a successful long term football model remains to be seen.

I don't see how it can - if you're always looking to sell you're always looking to replace so you can never really build a team.

I believe that we are trying to build up the bank balance to make it look more attractive for any potential buyers. A club/business is much more attractive to any potential inversters if its turning over a decent profit every year, even if it is coming from player sales.

We want to be pleased Barry's not doing the recruitment. He'd have had a Fox, Nairn, Garibaldi, Mc Vitie
    and McAroon in by now.!
