As many have said on here, recruitment is what every manager lives or dies by. It's pretty clear that the recruitment policy at Oakwell isn't working, with an over reliance on young, inexperienced players and loanees, who are equally young and inexperienced. It really is about time the club made some kind of statement on how recruitment works at the club and why this policy has been adopted. 4 or 5 younger players in a starting 11 is fine, but 9 or 10 isn't going to work. Ben Mansford has been quoted as saying players must have a re-sale value, so is this policy purely financial? Do business interests come before footballing matters when recruiting players? Has Lee Johnson been told to adhere to this policy, with signings only being sanctioned by Mansford and Cryne if they fit the correct business profile? With the team in the relegation zone of the third tier, I think the fans need some clear information on the strategy in place and whether there will be any change to that strategy to avert a possible return to fourth division football...
The silence from Benjamin and co since the weekend tells you all you need to know about the strategy at Oakwell! I find it outrageous that The criteria to which Wilson was sacked has not been applied to Lee Jay. A case of moving the goalposts to suite springs to mind. Please go now the lot of you!
This thing about resale value is a load of ********. Of the current squad who could we actually sell for a profit other than Hourihane?
