I went to t'well to back the reds against Brighton today, and some very poor decisions was made by the ref. One that caught my eye was the sending off, but I missed it. Was it the right decision or not? Someone help me. Great support by the fans, nice to see people getting behind Wilson and giving him the credit he deserves. Unfortunately we couldn't get a result at oakwell but a draw is better then a loss. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It had to be a red because the 2nd yellow was the right call, the problem was the 1st was never a yellow, wasn't even a foul.
Why did it? He could've given him a final warning like he did the Brighton player. If you do that for one team, then you have to do it for the other.
He was away without the foul, always gonna be a yellow. Agree that they should have had more yellows, consistently inconsistent was the twohat, i mean ref.
But he'd already set himself a precedence with Ulloa. You shouldn't apply one law for a player in one team if you're not prepared to reciprocate. Either you do it for both, or you do it for neither. He just made it up as he went along.
But the earlier wrong decisions then made that decision wrong. He was wrong to book Etuhu earlier as it wasn't even a foul so that automatically meant the second booking was wrong. If he gives a final warning to Ulloa, rather than sending him off, then his decision not apply the same tolerance for Etuhu again makes the sending off wrong. Others may disagree with me, but I believe that the referee was wrong to give Etuhu a second yellow and then send him off.
Having watched the replay on Sky Sports I don't think the second yellow was a foul and the first certainly wasn't.
As others have said, in the context of the referees decisions the first yellow was never a yellow, the second I'd say definitely was. Brighton seemed to get away with more when it came to second yellows though - shouldn't matter if the player has already been booked.
Yes it was a 2nd yellow but the point everyone is making is that the 1st booking was not a booking. it was 50/50 and somehow there player is rolling around for 10 minutes acting like he's been shot.
Clear dive for me the 2nd yellow. 1st wasn't even a foul. Problem was they should have had about 3 sent off for tackles while been on a yellow.
Etuhu got the first yellow card for kicking the ball away after the ref had blown for a foul.. Not for the foul.
Not sure he kicked ball away but if so a joke as there players did it just about every time. Why give them a free kick, it wasn't even that.
Well I was dead in line with the 2nd yellow, and to me, their lad was a good 2 yards to the left of Etuhu, he ran across him expecting a touch which never came, so he dropped to the ground. Reckon Kelvin would have done the same had he been quicker than their lad. What annoys me more is the fact that Etuhu was sent off for 2 nothing challenges, and yet Ulloa who could easily have been sent off for consistent dissent. He was booked for dissent, carried on complaining, then made a silly challenge on Dawson straight after, then made a cynical challenge in the 2nd half and didn't get a 2nd booking. Very inconsistent refereeing. Sadly the main disappointment for me, was that our main goal threats (O'Grady, Cywka, Jennings and Proschwitz) didn't have a clear chance between them. In fact our only main efforts at goal fell to M'Voto and McLaughlin, who unfortunatly aren't the 2 players you'd want in them situations.
Must admit... that was my first reaction too...but I was a good bit further away...just seemed to fall over for me. But given that most around me didn't react in the same way and having read most of views on here I thought I might be wrong. Will be interested to see it again.
We were all livid with the ref for some pretty inconsistent refereeing, but when we met up with the missus's uncle (Brighton fan) after the match, the first thing he said was how much did you pay the referee cos he was a right homer. Just goes to show, when all four sides of the ground thought he had a bad game it must be true. Personal,y, I thought he let them get away with loads and the second yellow for Etuhu wasn't even a foul.
