STRIKER Daniel Nardiello will not be returning to Barnsley after dramatically and surprisingly turning his back on the Club this afternoon.
With the paperwork prepared and awaiting his signature, the 24-year-old striker was due at Oakwell this morning to sign the contract after agreeing the terms of a new two-year deal with the Reds.
Reds Chairman Gordon Shepherd arrived at Oakwell this morning and added his signature to the documents, which included all the relevant contracts and Agents Agreements.
At 11.00am this morning, Daniel's agent informed the Club that he was just passing Junction 23 on the M1 on his way to Oakwell but progress from the Midlands was slow because of the dreadful weather conditions although he expected to be at Oakwell early in the afternoon to sign.
However, at around 2.00pm this afternoon, Reds manager Simon Davey received a telephone call from Daniel in which he was informed that the player was now at Trowell Services on the M1 and would be returning south after agreeing to join Queens Park Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to www.barnsleyfc.co.uk, Chairman Gordon Shepherd revealed: "The Club are desperately disappointed at Daniel's late, late decision especially as the deal was all agreed and the paperwork ready on the table for his signature.
"We are also very unhappy at assurances given to us by the player that he would only consider leaving Oakwell for a Club closer to his home in the Midlands.
"As we had been hoping to announce Daniel's signature this afternoon, we feel that we have no alternative but to inform our supporters of the events and we are sure that they will share our deep disappointment at the way we have been treated today".
Remember - the only place for confirmed transfer news from Oakwell is right here at www.barnsleyfc.co.uk. I think he's just proved himself to be a complete ******. Don't want him at the club if thats his attitude - he can go and play 1 month a season for QPR instead.
They obviously offered what he wanted More money, less training,no warm up session before the match, padded lounger to be brought onto the pitch for him to rest on for 80 minutes of the game,no fines for yellow and red cards due to dissent,.....no laughing at his pansy running style or his choice of Brandy and Babysham as his favourite drink
I HATE the way bfc treat people When they leave. There's no way i would even consider signing for us at the moment because the second I leave they pounce on you

Applaud the club for exposing the truth there you have an interesting insight into how agents and players work, signing players isnt as easy in reality as on the Playstation, his loss, I'm still very excited for the new season and I hope we have the last laugh and QPR finish way down the league. and I have a sneaky feeling that we'll sign a replacement that may be even more 'box office' YOU REDS! (Y)
Replacement? Unless you know something I don't, I can't see us getting anyone any better. £500k spent already on two strikers, will be bank a third? Doubtful.
Why dont you f uck off to another club. you havent a morsal of positivity where the club is concerned, you really either need to find summat else to do or seek treatment. you're boring and predictable. do us all a favour and swap your pc for a blow up doll and lock yourself in your bedroom til October.
Some stupid pillock even predicted Nardiello would be our top scorer !! http://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/bbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=75702&mid=480965#M480965 I hope your 'sneaky feeling' is accurate .
Are you for real?? Please tell me your a wind up?? He's a tosspot messing the club around and you blame them for the way they treat people Ha ha ha ha UNBELIEVEABLE There are a certain breed of Barnsley fan that are so far removed from reality its painful to read their posts
Priorn to Dannys agent phoning the club and saying he'll be in to sign on Monday we'd been talking to strikers on the assumption he was going anyway. we CAN do better.
yer typical spick cant be trusted, shows all the loyalty of a gutter rat,a backstabber, yep yer typical spick.
Bad example there Dont think too many people will be having a go at Robbie Williams or Paul Hayes next season - other than the morons who would have a go at anyone. Chris Morgan will get a good reception etc. Mind you we've only heard one side of the story so far....
