If we expect him to get a 2 match ban and be out until the Wednesday game, the Liverpool game doesn't count as one of his served games. He misses Norwich and QPR. There was speculation on here that although he was cup-tied, it could still count as part of his suspension.
I believe that's happened to another player this season, where a banned game counted, even though he was cup tied. It could only happen with us if we get a replay anyway. Saturday is too soon for the ban.
It's now 'forthwith' (c) PLAYERS SENT OFF UNDER LAW 12 (4) and (5) A Player who is dismissed from the Field of Play for denying a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by physical means or by handling the ball, will be suspended automatically from all approved First Team matches commencing forthwith, until such time as his Club’s First Team has completed its next match in an approved Competition.
Saturday isn't to soon as red cards kick in straight away!! It was Ebanks Blake for Wolves, he was cup-tied for Wolves (after playing for Plymouth) but a suspension he had was used for the game he was cup-tied in!! Brian Laws want happy about it as he could then play vs Wednesday in the league - when he should have been banned as he couldn't play in the cup game anyway!! He went on to score a 90th winner v Wednesday as well So the club should be aware of this and then Lewin will miss Liverpool and Norwich and then be back for QPR at home or Liverpool replay (if a draw at Anfield)
RE: It's now 'forthwith' So what will happen then? It's not on if he misses 2 league games when Ebanks Blake got away with it!!
I've had a look at the rules and nowhere in them can I see something that says that the player has to be elligable for his clubs next home game in order for it to count in the ban, it just says that he misses his clubs next game.
RE: I've had a look at the rules His name isn't even appearing on the 'awaiting suspension' list on the FA website yet. The ref probably hasn't got up and filed his report yet!
I'm not sure. I would think that the answer would be yes but then there is also the rule that says anything not dealt with by the referee at the time can be looked at by the fa afterwards and if the ref doesnt file his report the fa could argue that he never sent nyatanga off.
The other players sent off last night (O' Toole and St Ledger) are already in the suspended players list, never mind the awaiting suspension one. Wonder if it's because we are appealing?
It's there - but recorded under Derby County 2 matches commencing 12/2/08. Still don't know if that's 2 eligible matches though. Suspended from all first team football until the Club have completed 2 first team matches for a Sending Off in a match played on 12/02/2008.
