Yeah it didn't work when we had bigger crowds, but people want the added expense of a club shop now on our current crowds. I don't think it would work and anyway our club shop at the ground isn't far to go from the town centre anyway (walking distance).

would it be an idea for an

Barnsley Fc pub where Yates was or anywhere? Obviously sports themed, did there used to be a bar at the back of the ponty end when it had the john smiths roof or am I dreaming that, I was young at the time!

The other dimension to the reds shop closing is that it is when the Alhambra was in it's early days and many of the townsfolk were still deeply cynical about uisng it for some reason. The best place in town that a new reds shop could open would be in the bus station area - in my opinion anyway.

If they were to open a shop why in Barnsley town centre

lets be honest its not far to walk to the ground from there. Why not in the Dearne Valley, Rotherham or even Sheffield / Meadowhall

BTW I dont think the expense can be justified but if I did, Barnsley town centre wouldnt be my first choice

That would be a really good idea. A Barnsley FC themed bar for supporters to go to for nights out and before/after matches.

Only ever went there once and that was so my Official Barnsley FC History book could be signed by John Hendrie. Sadly he couldn't make it as he was out signing a player (who turned out to be Bruce Dyer) and so I had to make do with Kevin Richardson, who spoke very highly of Scott McClare.

Whats the point in opening one in town when we can't run the one at the club succesfully, first of all they need new stock, the stuff behind the glass has been there for years, and more importantly they need to make sure that this season they can get hold of more shirts when they run out, it was a disgrace this saeson no home shirts left by xmas and the shop never had any plans of ordering anymore
