I suspect that it's the commercial department who contact anyone still alive, but not playing professional football.

I have most ex players addresses and someone from the commercial department asked me for my address book and asked the players to come. i dont know how they deciede but if you email the commercial department and they have the players address then they would ask them.If you post who you would like to see I wull tell you if they have the address or whether they live abroad etc

From the look of those choices I'd say you were watching the reds in the first half of the 80s!

RE: Was a good time to be watching the Reds

I started watching the reds in 1979 very young ( im 34 now )
I have some awesome memories as i have watched both home and away every week.
i stood behind the goals in the ponty right at the back, and my claim to fame is i was one of the founder members of the Baker fan club
For anyone who dosent remember - clive baker used to run towards the goal at the start of the game - we started siging baker baker give us a wave and when he waved we sung we are the baker fan club !! very juvenile now but much fun then !!

    Cain...

Some of them still play for a team, professional, semi-professional, or amateur so they couldn't do the half time idea.

    Andy Saville?

Best thing he ever did was hand ball it down against Leeds for John Deehan to smash in

    There is quite often...

A host of league teams playing on the same evening.

Some might not play on the Saturday either, but it doesn't mean they don't have training!
