Barnsley Cricket Club are proud to announce that the club will take part in a charity 20/20 cricket match against Barnsley Football Club later this month to raise funds for local charities. The whole game is kindly sponsored by healthcare IT specialists iSOFT Group plc. Associate match sponsors for the game are The Star, Walkabout Barnsley and Perrys. The game will take place on Friday 29th July 2005 at Shaw Lane Cricket Ground and is staged in association with The Star. The Oakwell club will be sending the full first team squad and management to the game and many of the present players - as well as some old favourites - will take part in the match. Barnsley Football Club will play in an exclusive red and white cricket kit carrying the iSOFT logo, each player's name and their squad number. The shirts will be auctioned off after the game to help raise further funds. This is the first charity game at the Shaw Lane ground for many years and former Football League referee Trelford Mills, now vice chairman of Barnsley Cricket Club, said: "This is a tremendous opportunity for both clubs to do their bit for a good cause, whilst providing entertainment for the fans. We look forward to a great day" The gates will open at 2.30 pm and the match will start at 4 pm. Evening entertainment will include raffles, auctions, funfair and much more. Shaw Lane also has a fully licensed bar. Tickets for the game cost £3 for Adults and £2 for Under 16's on the gate. Alternatively you can purchase tickets in advance with a £1.00 discount. Tickets will be available from Barnsley FC Superstore, all Barnsley Hospice Shops and from the bar at Shaw Lane
The named Charities The game in aid of charity will benefit both Macmillan Nurses and Barnsley Hospice as well as Barnsley Cricket Club.
