Deary deary me. Orient goal 2 yds offside (no exaggeration) and now denied them a nailed on pen despite looking straight at the incident from a few feet away. Horrendous officiating.
Seen the 2nd play off game kicks off at 6.30 on a Sunday what an horrendous kick off time that is tbh.
The Lino clearly thought he’d not headed it on, from the side the deflection isn’t obvious so whilst it’s a poor call you can sort of understand how it happened. You’d hope at this level the ref and Lino would communicate to make sure both knew the whole picture though. Terrible decision really.
Well done to Dave Challinor for calling it out in his post match interview but sadly he will probably end up getting fined. Officials are afforded far too much protection from the authorities but in my opinion should be made to come out and answer questions around their decision making.
It isn't the linesman's job to decide if there was a deflection apparently. He watches the offside position and the ref should be saying whether there was or wasn't a flick on and the ref had the absolute perfect view of it. That's according to a referee explaining this situation on TV anyway, the 'centre ref' tells the linesman whether it was flicked on by the attacker or not
