How did you rate Mr Finnie. His second reds appointment of the season after the Bradford debacle in the cup. Thought he largely went unnoticed barring a few soft fouls. Thought the penalty was soft, but in this day and age, a penalty all day long.
Will Fussy more like. Also totally forgot the directives and erroneously awarded us a penalty, so i'm afraid it's low, low, low, low, low, low, low.
Decent game to be fair. Can't think of any decision which wound me up and I think it's a pen, certainly not an "embarrassing " or "scandalous " call as their manager would have you believe.....
Only one for me and it’s a minor gripe. He allowed an opposition player to stop us taking a quick throw in by standing in his face - after he finally moved we tried to take it and he pulled it back and made us take it again. Just an odd scenario like he was trying to let them get back into a defensive shape. Thought the pen was one we normally appeal for and never get. I know Carlisle fans are adamant that they have been cheated.
A 3 from me. Over- fussy with many ‘strange’ decisions. Seemed to let the more rigorous challenges ride and was blowing for all petty challenges and some baffling fouls. Not very impressed. Only seen the penalty foul a couple of times and there seemed to be contact, a soft one admittedly but looked a foul.
It's a 4 from me Len. Too fussy, game didn't really flow and both teams could feel aggrieved with certain decisions. I have been quite generous with recent refs but I didn't enjoy this one.
Given him a solid 7 - as others have said he went mostly unnoticed kept his cards in his pocket apart from one nasty challenge which did warrant a yellow. a few minor grips like the throw in mentioned earler and a couple of very soft fouls given against Cosgrove where he was generally ignoring a bit of pushing. Penalty was correct though it is one thats not always given it was a clear foul
I really hope the fourth official didn't really say this-if he did he should be disciplined Paul Simpson from Carlisle site "On the penalty decision which brought the winning goal, he said: “It is really harsh. I’ve just looked back at it there. The annoying thing is, I kept talking to the fourth official and saying that the ref was going to cost us tonight with the decisions he was making. The fourth official kept saying ‘I agree with you Paul’, then that happens."
Doesnt sound very plausible unless he was just not wanting an argument. Apart from the Penalty which decisions is he whining about I cant think of many bad decisions either way - I wasnt happy with a few minor ones against us and probably wouldnt notice minor ones for us unless he is unhappy that when their players fell over the ref didnt give them a free kick Reason they lost wasnt the ref it was they spurned several gifts we offered them in front of goal, score half of them and they would have won
5 from me. Not a big score because he was a bit fussy although nothing that made him stand out as being awful. However it would have been a higher score but for the fact that I think the penalty decision was soft as shat. I think he got that wrong and it turned the result. Of course, it was in our favour but still, if I am trying to be objective, its cost him a point.
6/10. Penalty I’m surprised we got but I think he got it right. Was a bit fussy and I felt their lad who stopped the quick throw in ought to have been booked too.
Looking at the highlights, it was a tackle from behind so definite penalty for me. One one of those we normally don't get though.
General overall performance was a minus 5 but then get plus 15 bonus points for awarding us a penalty in the 86th minute 10/10 Well done Willie
