I thought he was good too. Let some proper challenges happen that could have been unfairly punished, set a good tone for the match.
Spot on, allowed the game to flow, which suited us as we got into a rhythm, early in the 2nd half and bossed the game.
Don't know how the linesman failed to give them a penalty though. I think it was Kennedy who pushed there player over with 2 hands in front of him!
Nigel Miller was the referee when Laura was a mascot against Wrexham, eight years ago. Scott Flinders was/is her favourite player, so she was wearing a green goalkeeping kit. Scott was due to wear a grey strip, but Nigel asked him if he could wear a green one to match Laura's. Scott being Scott readily agreed. Nigel treat Laura as a princess that night (even giving her a number of refereeing badges) and I will always be grateful and respectful to him. A really decent bloke.
I said at the time it was a daft thing to do as the kid was going towards the corner flag. The ref was good and I can't remember a game in which himself and the lino's gave us every little call and nothing really want against us.
I thought he (and his officials) were awful. Missed an absolutely blatant penalty by kennedy. Missed a couple of blatant handballs Let them play on when we kicked the ball out for an injured player (correct decision is to book them for unsporting behaviour) Allowed shittu to stand inches from him pointing in his face and swearing. Allowed number 14 to abuse him constantly for 90 minutes. Missed a clear punch One minute freekicks were being stopped because they were taken from 2 blades of grass away from where the incident occured, the next minute anywhere in the same half wasacceptable. Failed to talk to or book players for persistent fouling. He was poor, the only difference to usual was he was poor generally in our favour. Does that make him good? Not in my eyes
Re: Nigel Miller was the referee when So that's how they get their refereeing badges. Well that explains a lot. I wonder who Trevor Kettle was the mascot for
Sorry mate, but I was obviously watching a totally different match to you as I thought he had a good game, penalty decision aside.
At the ground where their player punched ours (Stones?) and got away with it. At the ground where they refused to give the ball back after we kicked it out for an injury and the referee failed to book them for unsporting behaviour. at the ground where their number 14 swore at the ref and then linesman and got away with it. At the ground where Kennedy should have given away the most blatant penalty in the history of penalties if the referee hadn't been the only man in the ground not to see it. At the ground where Shittu waved his finger inches from the refs nose. At the ground where the ref was VERY fussy about where freekicks were taken from sometimes but turned a blind eye to 10 yard gains at other times. He might have got a lot right but he also certainly got a lot wrong last night.
Re: Sorry mate, but If we all had the same opinion and views on everything life would be pretty boring wouldn't it.
