Just watched the match day recap, now I’m not saying this to come across as clutching at straws. However after just watching that first goal back the whole of the stoke team run back into their half to celebrate. The ref runs over to Lee Gregory to what seemed to be stopping him going into their half to stop us doing a quick free kick which we’d be entitled to. Now I don’t really want to see us gain an advantage through such an unsportsmanlike phase of play. That said though the referee has no right to do that and isn’t really being impartial if that’s what he was doing. It was only brought to my attention when I saw Butland frantically trying to get the stoke players to switch back on to what was happening. Did anyone else notice this? Be interesting to hear other opinions on this.
You’d think wouldn’t you. I do think there’s a ruling though where you can kick off if all players are in their own half or off the field. Remember some controversy over the last World Cup about it? watch the match day recap and you’ll see what I mean. Like I said I wouldn’t be comfortable with us scoring a goal in this way, but I find it strange the ref would run over to stop us doing it. also watching the recap that on Thomas is a stone Waller and right under his nose!
If you watched it on Quest there was quite clearly no contact I'm sure I've seen the ref going up to players during goal celebration quite often but I'm not sure why.
