The ref at the QPR-Leeds match failed to book a QPR player for a blatant and bad foul, having already got him on a yellow card. Should have been off. JFH withdrew him shortly after - got away with it!

Apparently (I wasn't there) our ref yesterday failed to book/send off one of their players in the first half for more than one bad foul. MM withdrew him at half time - another got away with it!

The one on Friday for the Newcastle-Fulham match put in a similar performance.

Why does nothing ever change with these clowns? Surely the referees' panel can spot the glaring errors and issue a five match ban, well publicised so that at least we, the fans, know they are watching. Will it happen? Will it heck!!!!

You're not allowed an opinion on this. Jog on (apparently).

Refs will never earn respect while ever they appear to be bottling decisions. I can accept they're only human and only see an incident once and in real time so they will make mistakes but like every other fan I've seen incidents that were so obvious that you question their integrity and their backbone. Only they can sort this out.

An indication of the ref's performance yesterday were the constant chants of:

    The referee's a W****r!!

followed by W****r!!! W****r in his direction......

and finally, You don't know what you're doing! repeated many times.

    Best chant for me?

    Paul Heck-in-bott-om,
    He's one of our own......

All of us who were at Ipswich would, I am sure, agree that Bru should have received at least a second yellow card - if not a straight red - after hacking Kent down.

Even the Ipswich fans on their forum agree that the ref bottled the decision, and that Bru should have been sent off.

Thing is Mario, you hear the ex-pro pundits coming up with gems such as 'he's used a bit of common sense there' when referees don't give a player a second yellow. Suggesting that they don't want to 'spoil the game'. There's more than just pressure from the supporters at play. The media exerts an influence too.

Not sure, unless that was the incident when Scowen got the head injury and had to go off?

That is what I heard, yes. As I said, not seen it yet. If he did it he had better watch out when they come to Oakwell. Josh will have him in his sights immediately!

I'm all for common sense and taking a step back to think about it before whipping out the red card.

What is NOT acceptable though is when you see a player (usually ours) sent off for one mis-timed flying tackle which does no damage to the player but then you see a similar tackle earning nothing more than a finger wagging.

I accept fully a referee's fallibility. "I didn't see it" kind of thing. But when everyone else in the ground gets a clear view of a bookable offence you have to wonder what is in the minds of these idiots.

I completely agree with you re: ex pros in the media - some of them appear to be completely out of touch with the fans. I think there is a big difference between a referee using a bit of judgement to let a minor indiscretion go unpunished and bottling a decision that many who saw it say could very easily have been a red card on its own. It's so frustrating but we should be used to it.

I'd much prefer it if referees didn't use any 'common sense's or 'judgement' in deciding not to punish players who break the rules. The rules are clear and written down, every player agrees to abide by them and every referee agrees to enforce them, at no point do the two parties make an agreement to ignore a few of the rules as and when their 'judgement' and 'common sense's tells them to.

If every referee you wished offenses as the laws dictate and not as their own judgement at the time feels whether the law should or shouldn't be abided by then refereeing performances would improve immensely and consistency would not just be a word used as a negative towards the refs.

The one thing that infuriates supporters the most is when an injured player is allowed to lay on the floor receiving treatment for a minor injury for what seems like an age only to then trot off the field and straight back on again. The SOLE reason that this happens is that referees ignore the written rules and instead attempt to use their judgement and common sense when deciding how long to let a player receive treatment for. If they applied the rules as they are written then those players would leave he pitch after a brief initial assessment to determine whether moving the player would or wouldn't cause further injury.

Football is a sport with hard and fast yes or no rules, the referees job is to determine whether a rule has been broken or not, not to decide to what degree they think it has been broken or whether the player has previously been nice or not. Break the rules and if the referee decides the rule has been broken then every player gets the same punishment, that's all we want.

Wednesday lucky today, Hutchinson should've got a 2nd yellow after a blatant foul. Then, gets away with conceding a penalty after Draggin down a Villa player with his shirt. Ref may not have seen it, but assistant on that side couldn't have missed it. Then they get a luck break following a poor clearance by the keeper. Good finish by Forestieri though.
