Is their job now impossible.Barcelona v Chelsea reached an all time low in my opinion. Diving-shirt pulling-gamesmanship-intimidating the officials. And the match commentators had the gall to say the ref has lost it.Its about time we started backing the referees instead of abusing them in situations like last night.
Referees are ***** and deserve everything they get apart from their pay packet.
All except Chris Foy
and Graham Poll
and Mark Clattenberg is ok too.

It's the games ruling bodies that need to back them up and start penalising diving and play acting. They never use video evidence to punish that sort of thing. Barcelona players crowd the ref at every opportunity, Chelsea were doing it cos Barca do it and not only do they get away with it but get players booked and sent off.
RE: Referees are ***** and deserve everything they get Not sure about Graham Poll. He may be the players favourite but he's still crap. From memory, Paul Durkin was one of the few decent refs I've seen. Rarely got decision wrong and was respected by the pros.
RE: Referees are ***** and deserve everything they get Oh yes, Mr Gherkin. Ginger bástard though.
VOTE FOR PEDRO!

RE: Referees are ***** and deserve everything they get Tee hee. Ginger balax he may have been but he was a decent ref. p.s. give me some of your tots!
RE: Referees are ***** and deserve everything they get no, go find your own.
I'm freakin' starving! I didn't get to eat anything today.

But that is the ref's own fault I can't remember if it was the last match at Oakwell or the one before but the opposition player did the most blatant dive that you'll ever see in your life (in front of the east stand, attacking the ponty end) and the referee knew that it was a dive as his reaction showed. He gave waved his hands in a 'he never touched you in a million years' kind of way and let the game play on (clearly indicating that he knew no contact had been made). Now the rules state that the player can and should be booked for diving yet the referee decided not to bother.
That was just one of many examples, last night had many and yet again the referee doesnt book the players when they see it. There is nothing to stop players from cheating if refs havent got the balls to book them or send them off for it, and if they havent (which is clearly the case) then they are not only the cause of the problem but they ARE the problem.

RE: But that is the ref's own fault Players should be booked for diving, and personally feel that the clubs should be fined. Fair play Mourinho knew Barca would dive, but no doubt he told his players to follow suit and dive when possible....
RE: But that is the ref's own fault Chelsea don't need Barca to dive before they start doing it. Any team with Drogba and Robben in it is going to do more than its fair share.
RE: But that is the ref's own fault Drogba is shocking at it... To be fair to him, when he chested the ball passed Marquez last night for the equaliser, I half expected him to dive when he swung his foot out. He is showing this season though that he doesn't need to dive. If he stays on his feet he can spin the defender, and from this scored a few goals.
