If we have the sense to leave (which for one minute I don't think we will) the illuminati will have lost.
Out of interest, how does this anti-Europe stance go down in St Selve? Personally I always find the UK's at best Eurosceptic approach embarrassing when I'm talking to my French neighbours and friends.
Maybe it's a regional thing. Where I am, in rural Burgundy, there's generally a very welcoming and inclusive attitude towards other Europeans. If I'm honest I'd have to admit there's occasionally a little resentment towards some of the Dutch who are there in large numbers and don't always integrate but on the whole everyone gets along and enjoys the cultural mix. The UK often seems to be trying to distance itself from the rest of Europe which makes me feel rather uneasy when the freedom to mix and integrate with other Europeans is one of the things that brings me most joy in my life.
Generally 50/50 split. The farming community (oddly enough) are against, due largely to poor prices from large organisations. The Gironde area is generally very pro-England, undoubtably due to historical ties.
It's a misconception to think EU exit is about xenophobia, or some unbalanced dislike of foreign people or their countries. I love to visit other countries, I've never had a bad experience anywhere, much of the beauty of it is the difference in customs and way of life....customs that have grown over centuries to suit local conditions and needs...Actually the EU is the biggest threat to that...it has to be remembered that the EU wants and needs control to exist...any country that disagrees when given a vote are ignored...or at least the No answer is ignored...the question is asked again and again if necessary until the 'correct' answer is given.
