didnt really deserve all 3 points, but not too disappointed with a draw, cos I've seen us lose those kind of games so many times. some comment on our squad: Colgan is a better keeper than Flinders. full stop. defence: dont like the look of Reid and Carbon at the back, both rely on winning the first challenge, and when running back to goal, lack pace. we'll miss Kay's commitment and enthusiasm, would like to see us take Watt on loan until end of season. Midfield: plenty of creativity and running, shame about final ball at times. Devaney AND Shuker both mood players ie when in the mood, they are both unstoppable. Shuker was today, Devaney wasnt. Burns and Howard work well together, cant complain at either today. we had nothing on the bench to replace any of the 4 (sorry, Tonge has spent too much time at right back to call himself a midfield player) and when they ran out of steam, the 3 points slipped away. Strikers: Hayes missed 2 half chances today, thats why he's still league 1. he'll get better tho, and I sincerely believe that if we're in this league next season, he'll be top 5 goalscorer material. Richard is a carthorse, but is exactly what is required every other game at this level - a battering ram. Unfortunately today, we needed more guile to break down Hartlepool, and a more skilful, mobile replacement wouldve been handy. His first touch is embarrassing at times and he makes me feel quite sprightly even after my 2nd helping of Xmas pudding. However, he's a great player to have in the squad, cos he'll contribute big time in certain games, just not today. We need an alternative, a goal poacher, and lets hope there's one in the pipeline. Overall, if someone wouldve said to me at the start of the season that we'd finish 2005 in the top 6, I'd have laughed in their face. Optimistic for 2006, 2 additions to the squad and well, just maybe start thinking about.....nah, f.uck that....
Devaney probably wasn't up for it because Hartlepool were allowed to kick lumps out of him Also I thought Hayes disappeared from the game in the 2nd half, Richards was the better of the front two.
A very sensible post. For once I tend agree with your summary. Hayes has much more abilty than most players in this league. In time he will prove to be a very astute signing. Although not the most Skillful Richards does a good job for the team. He wins plenty of headers, upsets centre half's and holds the ball up well. Hartlepool are a better than average team in this league and derserved their point for their second half performance. I think we have got a half decent chance of making the play off's.
RE: A very sensible post. jesus saves.....but ronnie glavin nets the rebounds! i got the badge!!!!!!!!!!!!!
