A lot made last night on this with getting ex refs to speak on it and that it should have been a penalty. I know Man U get a lot more coverage than us but at the same time the same thing sometimes worse happens to Darren Moore etc every time we get a corner. Lost count of the amount of times Chris Morgan did it to Moore and Parkin against Preston did it every time, one time with both hands around his neck. It’s a penalty every time unfortunately and refs have to give them to stop players from doing it. I’ve noticed Da Silva do it on the odd occasion as well. If the refs have to give 4 pens a game then so be it, as long as it stops players from doing it in the future. Remember Johnny Parkin going down in the box in the last min against Stoke last season to get a very soft penalty when he was touched on the arm. Compare that to the pulling, pushing and what at times look like American Football tackles on some of our players and then to the ones which are given against us. Any opinions?
You are absolutely right. Its making a mockery of the arts of making a tackle and how to mark a man. I would like to see a couple of Prem games where 5 or 6 pens are given - hopefully that would filter it down the leagues.
Its also another case for Video evidence ! Why allow a clean headed goal from a corner when two of your defenders have been wrestled down in the build up ?

This morning on Sky Sports news, they had William Gallard or something like that who is the UEFA/FIFA whichever ones Communication Officer. He was saying that as football is a free flowing game unlike Rugby and so on it will not work. But he did mention the use of maybe an extra ref who will be placed either behind the goal or in a location where he can clearly see things. And will press a button to alert the ref when he’s things. Your right though, If the ref awarded 3 against John Terry, Rio Ferdinand or Carvaliho in a game then it will surely make players more aware they could be punished. At the moment its too easy for certain teams and make sit harder for teams like ourselves every week. By the way, I’m thinking about 5 days in Toronto with the girlfriend. She said if I take her to the Blue Jays again then I’d be in trouble.
What about Berbatov's goal? Vidic turned round and obstructed 2 Chelsea defenders from getting to the ball. Nothing's been said about that.
I know, happens a lot. It’s Man U though so they get away with it. Unfortunately for Chelsea though it’s a tactic they have used a lot in the past and got away with. Did Didier Drogba also look like Odejayi’s clone in that game? Looked good apart from the final shot. Although I dislike Man U, Chelsea who have the better layers caused their own downfall. A team who doesn’t put a man on the line deserve all they get when they concede from corners and their defending from balls into the box was shocking. Mikel is useless, all they did was make poor Man U team look good.
Thats easy ! ! You enjoy Toronto and leave her here with me ! She seemed keen on the idea when I spoke to her this morning.
Not just Man Utd they are all at it. Noticed Hyppia blatantly blocking Parkin at corners and free kicks in the Preston/ Liverpool cup game.
