Can card and cardboard go in the green bin or is it just cardboard? Having difficulty differentiating between the two.
Apparently not. There is corrugated cardboard that definitely goes in the green bin. Those big brown boxes for instance. Then there are things like ready meal boxes/sleeves, cereal boxes, birthday cards etc which are thinner and coated with stuff. These are classed as card. Not sure what to do with them. Been putting them in the green bin as well.
oh right matey you have taught me something there. I just sling all the card and cardboard in the green un!
Same here. But never been sure and I've noticed some councils say the coated card contaminates the composting procedure.
Other way round isn't it You're not supposed to put the thick stuff in like corrugated cardboard but you can put the thin stuff in like cereal packets.
RE: or so I was led to believe Who knows! Their website says thin cardboard and the label on the bin says clean cardboard. Other council websites refer to food packaging as card, which could contaminate the composting if its plastic coated. These councils allow you to put the thicker corrugated cardboard in the green bin though. What set me off thinking about it was some junk mail this morning and I couldn't decide whether something was paper or card.
