    * Did we waste over a million on a number of signings..............YES
    * Did we only stay up after the 45th game for the second season in a row..............YES
    * Could Davey have dealt with the Christensen, Johnson etc situations better...............YES

Just thought i'd turn it around lol. Works both ways. He's done plenty of good and plenty of bad. Important thing is is to improve once more next season.

The simple fact is that whatever anybody does in charge of our football club, there are a minority of fans that won't like it. Some because they don't like the man in charge, some because they are constant whingers.

Nottingham Forest are spending £2.5m on Robert Earnshaw. Thats what we are competing with.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. The detractors are entitled to their opinion that this has been a poor season and that Davey is a poor manager. My opinion is that they're wrong, and I'm entitled to that opinion too.

If he hadn't transfer listed these players, he'd have been criticised for keeping them. Managers at Barnsley FC cannot win on this forum, and thats why all these discussions are a waste of time. I'm sure people like, for example, SuperTyke (just using as an example, not singling out) criticised Ritchie regularly when he was in charge and we weren't winning/signing anyone. It is natural for football fans to constantly find fault, and it wouldn't change if we had Mourinho in charge.

Yet our management talk about not needing a cash injection and keeping the club as a community one :( :( :(

What choice do they have? If they increase the season ticket prices, less people will buy them.

    agree with you,

Cant see why people are moaning about his signings even the very best managers make mistakes. Most of his signings have been good and what more he has managed this on a very tight budget. Yes he has made mistakes Dwayne Mattis, Kim Christenson....etc but look at the overall improvement from this time last year

    Neil Austin- Rob Kozluk
    Anthony Kay - Steve Foster
    Marc Richards - Jon Macken

Plus some real quality the likes of Souza, de Silva ,Muller and JCR

He also looks tactically inept on the odd occasion but he is a young manager still learning at this level.

Would be nice with Shepherd stepping down to have someone with plenty of money come on board so we can compete better in the transfer market.

    Another fact for you Nudger

We finished nearer the relegation zone than we did the season before

You cant blame people for being concerned whether we are going in the right direction or not under Davey

i think Davey has himself to blame for some of this. He doesnt appear very approachable, he alienates his footballers when he goes off them, his signings are hit and miss and despite us having a BETTER team we still needed 45 games to be safe.
I admire your positive feeling you have about the guy but my gut has told me from the start that he is the wrong man.
So far i think most people are probably undecided about the guy and thats why you get opinions changing one week to the next.
Lets just hope for some good signings this summer and i might be a bit more optimistic (clap)

Remeber this..............there isn't a manager in the history of football

there isn't a manager in the history of football that has signed players over a number of seasons and every one of those players has gone on to be a great success for that club

Not one manager in the history of football
So why people on here think that Simon Davey should be able to buy cut priced footballers from all over the world and ALL of them will be a success.........God only knows

Its a known fact that a large percentage of signings don't work out
I was at a meeting with SD and he said something on the lines of this.......if we sign 10 new players and 7 turn out to be good signings then thats great

    Or is it?

    Richards or Odejayi?

It is Ok to compare the worst of what we had to the best of what he has signed, but thats just taking things to the extreme.
Davey has brought some good players to the club, but he has wasted money that the club cannot afford, Mostto,Christensen, Johnson.Ricketts etc.
Nudger is still going on about what happened 18 months ago, Davey has been here longer than Ritchie was and we only stayed up after 45 matches , same as last year, I* know some will keep on saying that the league was harder this season, I totally disagree with that, I think it was a lot easier this season.
I will be ever thankful to the team for the cup run and getting to Wembley, but I do think that we should have done a lot better in the semi- final match.
All in all I think we should have done better this season (I hoped to god that we wouuld finish above Wendys) and the team never looked like they cared in any of the Derbies , but I think we will be a better team next year.

The first FACT is in fact a fact

The players that left the club after 06/07 are playing at a lower standard
None.............not one...........left the club and went to another Championship or Premeirship club
Hence players we have now are better............FACT

    RE: Or is it?

yeh, they didn't look like they cared in the two away games where we battered the pigs and threw everything forward to equalise, then the players were distraught afterwards. You are unbelievable with such a ridiculous statement. Did you go to either away game? Be honest as I am no judging you for not going, but for being so unfair on the players.

RE: The first FACT is in fact a fact

Er, that means what exactly? Did all the players who replaced them come from the Premier League?

I think we've got a better squad as well but that is only (a well founded) opinion. Get your FACTS straight.

when did we play 2 away games against Wednesday?

I bet you think we battered Cardiff too.

I respect you opinion and you loyalty to the club, but just how many point have we taken in local derbies under Simon Davey? Do you think we have been any good away from Oakwell this season?
I did not go to Wednesday as I was working, but listened to the full match commentary.

And before anyone mentions Ritchie and Donny I dont thik we were any good then either!

RE: Another fact for you Nudger

What grounds do you have for saying he is not approachable? How do you know this? Have you tried to speak to him? Have you witnessed him ignoring his staff?

It's just hearsay B*ll*cks. No facts.
