So what's everyone think of the week trial? Good? Bad? We've certainly had to remove less posts in the last week. There have been slightly less posts on the board but Dirk's dissapearing act probably explains that ff
RE: Plus other factors That's a very good point. If for example a member were to ask for a banning of a certain IP address or certain member and enough members were in support. Is that possible? I'd say if 50% of posters seconded.
I don't know how it works but surely as a membership based forum, as members we must be able to express something via a democracy..
In principle I'm dead against registration only. However, I prefer that than these flipping guest posters issuing threats. In conclusion, I dunno.
Registered posters deciding who to ban ? Don't talk *****.
If that was the case then many posters who stimulate a lot of discussion would have been banned long since. This smacks of 'if you don't agree with me, your point of view is not valid'. If you don't like what someone says, don't read their threads / replies etc. Simple.
The whole reason this BBS (and its previous incarnations) worked so well is that they were not greatly managed - in terms of their content. Idiots always appear, abuse for a few days, get bored then leave. It's happened for years and will always happen. So what, sticks and stones etc.
What people write on here should be taken with a massive pinch of salt. Banning / having members only posting is not the way to go imho. We seem to have lost many of the casual visiting supporter posts - I don't recall many pre Walsall.
Don't throw away what has made this board what it is.

And what harm does them being registered and not posting do exactly ? I still don't see your point.

No strong feelings, but a little frustrated when I could not post from a different computer because I forgot my password. And could not be bothered to go through the fuss of having it emailed. It no bother if you are on a quick computer but my home machine, is dead slow
I think what we're suggesting is That his IP is blocked so he can't view the forum. I don't know if that is possible. If he wants to be part of this and contribute he'd be more than welcome for me, as is anyone.
