The lad obviously thinks hes championship quality. To be honest the only time he has consistently shown it is under val. If hes as good as he thinks millwall or another championship club will active the release clause. Cant be that much if millwall are considering buying him.

Makes sense. Why would he sign otherwise.

Its worth pointing out that any release clause has to be higher than the fees we’ve rejected, otherwise why would the club do it, when they could have just accepted that fee in the first place.

It’s nothing to get our knickers in a twist over ;)

I'd expect a release clause to be in the £3m zone. obviously we'll never know like, but if it gets activated, it will be because he's doing well in the championship, which also probably means he'll still be a full international.

Reckon the release clause could be on a sliding scale. Dropping as his contract runs down?

If it's 3 million, I will dance bollock naked in the town hall fountains.

I’d guess that the release clause will be whatever fee we have been holding out for all summer. Would assume it’s over 1.5m if we turned that down in January.

Such a good job we’ve done of selling him this summer, he’s ended up extending his contract, and it’s the only contract extension I’ve seen announced without a single quote from anybody in the press release. It’s like a hostage situation, with the ransom demand written into his contract.
