Queens Park Rangers midfielder Adel Taarabt has signed for Fulham on a season-long loan. The Morocco international, 24, told QPR he wanted to remain in the Premier League after the club's relegation. Taarabt said: "This was a difficult decision for me, but at this stage of my career I feel I need to be playing at the top level. I hope the fans understand my decision and I really hope to return to Loftus Road one day." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23577399 I don't know where to start.
I don't think he's the first player to leave a relegated team, to stay at the top level. Happens all the time. That's just the way it goes
Basically takes their high earners off their books while they try to get promoted again and if they do they get their key players back, quote smart really unless it backfires.
I guess it's what one should expect in football but I'd like to think if I was instrumental in a team at my work that failed in some way I'd want to stick around to be part of the effort to try to fix it. When he says "he wanted to remain in the Premier League after the club's relegation" doesn't that equally apply to all members of the team? It's all a bit mercenary (by him) and calculating (by QPR) for my liking. As I've said before though, I'm old-fashioned.
Without him they wouldn't have been there in the first place. He pretty much single handedly got the promoted last time. If he can get a move to premier league club then fair play, I don't think he can be blamed for being a mercenary.
