It'll take more than a flipping halo. Jesus wept.

    So you'd accept a halo...

...and other trendy, middle-class paraphernalia that have no relevance to our town, history, culture and community simply to get one over on the "PC brigade"?

    WTF are you on about.

no I don't want one to start with

but can't see any reference to saying

"lets have a halo to get one over them"

some people are intent on reading something that isn't there

They have missed an ideal opportunity to make a decent twon centre. Instead of having wide streets they've retained the footprint of the original streets, instead of having a nice boulevard and wider streets. They've built three boxes (Media Centre) which people will be clamouring to have knocked down as per the current 60s monstrocities. I went to a public meeting which was attended by Will Alsop, the Architect, Steve Houghton and other worthies including Michael Spinks, and was given the impression that the Town Hall would be the centrepiece with a straight road leading to the Metrodome. Other pieces mentioned were making the gateways, viz. major entry roads, welcoming. All I see is a repeat of the lack of vision of the 60s and 70s.
