Well he's now being detained unfairly and harrowingly badly in a detention centre.

Our church is battling with the agencies involved to get him and his family released.

It's shocking how they are treating them... http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2009/06/432625.html

It doesn't sound a nice place and something needs to be done........

but you've said they've been detained unfairly, my understanding of it was they've been refused a longer stay in the UK and need to leave the country, if this is the case they're not been detained unfairly. It's hard for a lot of us to have sympathy with someone that caused a massive amount of disruption and cost the tax payer £1000s after climbing on a roof for a day, it happened just round the corner from my house and i couldn't believe the amount of cops, firemen etc at the scene.

All this is just more fuel to the immigration fire that the BNP feed off, other countries don't have all these problems esp those with land borders.

The only people acting inhumanely there are the parents

who are forcing their CHILDREN to sleep outside at night as a protest. What despicable human beings they are

Where is there any suggestion he tried to get in illegally?

It says he's an asylum seeker, that is not the same as an illegal immigrant.

Barking up the wrong tree mate

Do you honestly think you'll find any compassion or understanding here?</p>

Despite being among the most priviledged people in the world most BBs'er only ever see what they haven't got or can't get, if the poor buggers in the detention centre weren't born in England then they don't deserve any human rights.

    Am I missing soemthing?

Am I missing something here or is most of the trouble caused when the asylum seekers protest when someone actually gets a deportation order against them and they try to send them home?

children deserve the human right of shelter at night

yet their parents refused to give them that as a protest.

We as a state deserve the right not to have our proerty destroyed and set on fire by people protesting and guards deserve the right not to be attacked for doing their job.

Where does it say they were forced to sleep outside?

It says they left their rooms and sat in the corridor. It's a bit different.

it's on one of the pages of that site, on one of the links near the top of the story. I'm not sure which though sorry.

It says that as part of the protests all prisoners (or whatever they call themselves) with the children are spending the nights outside as a protest.

It also gives reasons for protests which include pregnant women being detained and people being driven long journeys to the airport to be deported

Sorry mate I know that I will be called a racist for this but all of these people have been through the full British Judicial system and are awaiting deportation. My future son in law works from Gatwick deporting these people. You may be surprised to learn that there is a weekly charter plane to Iran & one to Iraq full of deportees, plus regular charters to Jamaica and a number of African countries, all of which we as tax payers are funding. Furthermore to deport an individual 2 or 3 officers must travel with these deportees at the tax payer’s expense (Keith has just come back from deporting a chap to Fuji!) I can assure you that they are not kept in inhumane conditions, they may be bored but they must be contained they are awaiting deportation FFS. They are a significant flight risk and should they run away many will simply vanish. They have internet access, TV’s 3 meals a day and full access to legal advice etc... Keith has suffered at the hands of the deportees who are often violent when facing deportation and they are instructed by others to ensure that they kick off on the plane steps. As the captain of the plane has the right to refuse to carry these people someone kicking on the plane steps and upsetting the passengers will make a captain more inclined to refuse to carry these people. Finally a lad who I have met, who is a colleague of Keith had his nose bitten off by a Jamaican deportee who is a notorious violet drug dealer & gangster who was being deported for the 5th time from Britain.

    Not arguing

Many asylum seekers need deporting. As you outline, theres some rum 'uns trying to stay in the country (as indeed there are some rum natives), and they need dealing with. Though obviously its going to cost us deporting them, so I'm not sure how that can be changed.
There are some cases though where asylum seekers with very genuine and desperate claims get turned away. We should at least be careful not to tarnish them all with the same sh1tty brush.
