    But there was a lot of criticism about the costs, which the music industry put down to costs of production and packaging, rather than greedy bands and musicians.
    Same with DVDs - great quality which brought the cinema experience to your home, but costly to produce and package.

    Move on to the digital era - tried to buy my mother a CD on Amazon last night. Price £7.99. Or download for £8.99. So the 'future' (that is, digital download) is more expensive despite nothing to produce and no packaging.

    Same with Kindle ....... a book I want for my birthday. Paperback - £7, Hardback -£8, Kindle Edition £9.99

    How does that work?

    The same way as I got charged delivery costs for tickets for something I had to print at home
    or the fact that dowloads can cost signifcantly different amounts depending on which country you are in when you download

    Basically its that they charge what they think they can get away with
