int fa cup 3rd round 1989 I think. Remember Gwynn Thomas (no shin pads) got injured. Think it ended his career. Shame he was a good player. Who scored. Think him and lowndes got one?
Great days. Is that there year when... we got stoke in a replay and coops did that summarsalt then we played utd over 3 games?
RE: Great days. Is that there year when... yeah i remember that too, in the good old days of mutlipul replays, imagine the money you could make these days if we played them 3 times now
Wew mullered Chelsea that day. They were runaway leaders in the Second Division and stronlgy fancied to win. I think they brough about 4,500 fans up with them? Next round we crossed swords with Stoke and their followed two belting games before we lost 1-0 at home to Everton. The three Sheffield United ties were in 89/90 - we were 2-0 up in the first game. It was a brilliant start for us that day but alas, we threw it away
Here is the detail FA Cup 3rd. Round v Chelsea played Jan 7 1989. Barnsley won 4 - 0 with Thomas; Agnew (2) and Currie scoring. Att. 13,241. The match should have been shown on Match of the Day but Ken Bates (yes the same on who is now at Leeds) objected and the BBC missed the game out.
