Repeat of an old thread.........what Mick Wadsworth had to say about Andy Ritchie

I posted something of this sort when the directors were considering managers before they appointed Andy Ritchie
At the time a friend of Mick Wadsworth told me this
Mick took over from Ritchie at Oldham

There was a company car provided by Oldham for Ritchie to use while out scouting for players
This car had hardly been used, he very rarly went out and looked at other players
Ritchie had this prima donna attitude that he was a top footballer who had everything done for him and he thought that is how he intended to carry on in life

Now, I posted this before Ritchie was appointed and I got the usual verbal from some guys on here who don't like Mick Wadsworth
But thats not the point, what Mick had said about Ritchie has come true

Also, to back this up
On radio Sheffield last night a guy was talking about a conversation with Oldham fans. This guy said the Oldham fans had told him that Ritchie will frustrate you because he will not bring other players in

So all the evidence points to Ritchie having a problem when it comes to working with new players, strangers or what ever you want to call it

Shep and PC saw this and thats why he got the push
We now need to get behind the directors and lets hope they bring a manager in that knows football people and can maintain the attacking style of football that we have seen this season

 

So Ritchie got the sack cos he didn't like driving and wanted a chauffeur ? Sounds fair to me.

so many players have turned us down though!?!?!

surely when it comes to contract talks etc you cannot blame AR

ONE of the reasons Ritchie got sacked from Oldham is that he didn't bring new players in

The ONLY reason he got sacked from Barnsley is because he didn't bring new players in

I don't know Shep

But I've spoken to him and he seems a decent bloke
Only problem I have with Shep is this....
He hasen't got much football background
So he COULD struggle when he is dealing with agents, footballers, managers etc etc.
He probably dosen't know people in football and he may not understand the football business
But I don't know this for certain

But Andy Ritchie should know all this stuff
So if players haven't arrived at Oakwell you can only blame Ritchie the manager
Alternatively - the directors should appoint a director of football and let Shep get on with running the financial side of things

but sheppy boy brought in togwell and massive toe,

2 of our best signings in recent times.

also, when sheppy was brought in, everyone (me included) said he knows nowt about football, he wont be able to balanace the books cos he doesn't understand football etc etc

if players he has wanted have not come to the club and he must have wanted these players for them to be offered contracts!

I agree he needed to strenghten however if the players offered to him did not meet the criteria he wanted then i fully back him because i trusted his judgement.

Recent weeks for example are where AR has said we need some experience (now i know it has taken a while but at least he is not arrogant enough to stick to his guns like previous managers have) but the players offered bates and jones are young lads so in AR eyes they are not what we want?

In all honesty young nudge i don't think many chairman directors have a footballing background.

I'm not slating GS or the board but i am disappointed in there reasons behind the sacking and would have given him at least the next 3 games to prove them wrong if all these stories are true!?

GS is a fan and like us all he might have been frustrated to the point where he was offering any old player, you'll never know!?

you again have in the past posted on here your frustrations at the wages offered by the club which restrict our potential transfer targets!!

But does Shep know football business.......which is more like show busines
We don't know this
We need someone that knows the football business
I think we need someone in the board room that does know the football business
What about Taylor, whats his background in football

 

one thing positive

if you can call it that, when AR was appointed many called it cheap, questioned GS judgement etc but proved us wrong again lets hope it happens again!!

You are presuming that Ritchie wanted these players
i have it on good authority THAT HE DID'NT

Togwell and McIndoe were brought in by Shep
Who says so..............SHEP !!!!
He has said this to people who post on this message board
And he said this soon after they had signed i.e. not just recently
If Shep hadn't persisted there would have been no Togwell or McIndoe at the club

if he did not want the players then why were they offered contracts

and why did AR talk about his disappointment in not getting the players?

something does not add up to me and at the minute we only know one side of the story!!

The problems Ritchie had signing players at Oldham seems to be the case again at Barnsley
And what Mick Wadsworth told a freind of mine seems to have come around again
So if it happened at Oldham and the directors are saying that it happened at Barnsley
Why blame the directors of Barnsley ???
