Just got this reply back from the Football League:--

Thank you for your email. Let me apologise for the delay in responding to your email. The Customer Services Department has a small staff and has recently suffered from illness meaning that responding in our usual time frame has been difficult.

I understand your frustration. We are all football fans and when our team doesn’t get the decisions we feel we should get we tend to look at the referee's decisions.

Just like the players and managers, I am unable to change the referees decisions, however I can give you some information relating to referees and how we try to improve standards.

The Football League utilises the top 75 referees in the country for all its games. This is commonly referred to as the 'National Panel.' All matches are attended by a referees assessor who gives feedback to the referee after each game. In addition the assessor will provide the League's referee department with a mark out of 100 for their performance. In addition, the home and away manager also give the referee a mark out of 100. All this detail is kept on record. At the end of the season, every referee is reviewed to ensure that their performances are up to the required standard. It is possible for referees to be taken off the national list if it felt that over a sustained period of time their performances are not up to standard.

I hope this information has been of interest.

In regards to further action, if any is to be taken it would be The Football Association that would give any further penalty to Chris Morgan. The reason for this is that it is The FA who have jurisdiction relating to disciplinary matters, due to this it is not right for The Football League to comment on whether the player should receive any further sanction as this goes against any due process that may need to take place.

Thank you for your interest in The Football League

    Yours sincerely
