It was Windy, Wet & Cold!!! Nice of Gillingham to provide all us fans with a trendy looking poncho!!

Now to the game. We weren't beaten by a better team yesterday but by a team that were more physical and cynical then us. They used all the tricks in the book, jumping into players without any intention of playing the ball, shirt pulling, taking players out when necessary (the Hammill tackle/assault!) and the referee fell for it all not offering us any protection at all.

Both their goals came from individual mistakes, Bree making an inside pass without looking and Davies palming the ball out into the centre of goal.
This is not a criticism of either player as both had solid games aside from the errors! it just so happened that both led to goals!

We looked bright when going forward without creating any real clear cut chances, Hourihanes goal was well worked from a throw in routine, and an excellent precise finish.

Unfortunately we seemed to be still celebrating and had not settled back into rhythm when they scored the second. After this you could not fault the players efforts and they tried for the second equaliser, the difference was that all the crosses into the box appeared to drop to Gillingham players and we didn't get the run of the ball that we have being in recent weeks.

Overall it was a decent performance from the team and with a bit more luck we would have got the draw that we probably deserved.

Oh and did I mention it was Windy, Wet and Cold!!!!!

Thanks for that, but after seeing the 2nd goal several times, I think it's harsh to say Davies simply palmed the ball out it was a reflex/stretching type of save and was unlucky to fall into the path of onrushing midfielder who simply wasn't picked up. Hope you didn't get too wet.

A pretty accurate report from Alfie's Dad.

We were easily the equal of Gillingham until they scored through Bree's sloppy square pass. Until then they hadn't looked like scoring. We really should have been in front earlier when Marley Watkins had the goal in his sights, and instead of breaking the net with it, he played a limp square pass in the direction of Winnall, and the chance was lost.

I'd have backed us to go and win the game if their 2nd goal hadn't come straight after our equaliser. Unlike many on here I haven't given up hope of the play-offs. We could well go on another unbeaten run.

As for the away end at Gillingham, it should be condemned - and they should too, for providing away fans with such a miserable awful experience. You have wet plastic seats on scaffolding, completely in the open, no cover. On arrival they provide you with a poncho, the sort to wear watching cricket during a summer's rain shower, not on a cold rainy winter's day.

Toilet facilities? The urinal was blocked and overflowing, meaning you had to paddle through on tiptoe. They finally made the decision to lock it up and you had to search for alternatives.

Not a place I want to revisit on a winter's day! A real lack of respect for away fans.

You see I don't mind that, it is a mans game after all ... I feel we have too many nice players with nice hair.... And if other teams have spotted this as a weakness, then good on em...
And if we are ever going to get out of this league, its sumert we may need to address

PS... and now Long's gone back its even worse....

Don't disagree with that, but I think with a stronger referee it would have been better for us.
