I think they should announce all Home fixtures for the reserves & academy
Games over the PA system at the halftime interval
It could create a bit more interest for those games.

    RE: what do you mean

They used to say how the youth team went on at half time but that seems to have stopped now.

    I think you might find...

...the drop off in interest happened when they started playing in the afternoons !

I know we were in the premiership, but there were regularly 2000 at the reserves then. It was quite a gathering for all the kids who could get in for nothing with their season tickets - a proper youth club :pff

The club could look at this and identify another source of income - all those kids buying bottles of coke and burgers at £2 a time. Surely that would offset the cost of playing under floodlights !

Another example of not being "of the people, for the people" - it's time BFC started to think about its supporters and how to get them returning to Oakwell.

Picking up on the comments about the general state of Oakwell, a community club would have people giving up their time to help out with little things like that. I appreciate, the club did ask for help during the summer - I wonder how many people turned up !

    In fairness

The club would have obivously done a cost-benefit analysis for playing the reserve games in the afternoon compared to the evening and made a decision on that basis.

If reserve games in the evening were profitable or had any significant benefit then they'd still be played in the evening.

    RE: In fairness

I hope that is the case and that it is a clear case.

I appreciate the club has to save wherever possible, but there will come a point when the club have to turn the corner and try to recruit young supporters.

Reserve games are a perfect opportunity for parents to take younger children to footall matches, they are also popular with older kids who gather for other social reasons, but nevertheless, turn up.

Its not long since there was a strong feeling about the price of family tickets and the cost of taking kids to matches. The club MUST start to think about these issues or it will die on its feet.
