with the amount of young pro's for next season should barnsley rejoin and set them just to play in reserves and first team matches?

Yes, I enjoy going to watch the reserves.

But... I'm sure I read somewhere that it costs too much money what with the travelling to the away matches, more squad members needed etc...

If we have the numbers then I'd also like to see them return, and 7pm KOs when possible.

Reserve games can be a good way to 'test the water' of very young fans to see if they want to watch Barnsley. It isn't as important if they won't sit still during the game or want to wander (within sight!). But then you know it is too early to take them to a first team game.

Then there is the fact I like to watch football, period.

I expect they would be free again for ST holders too. 2012/12 might be a short season though.

It gives us the best chance of winning something though - we're always crap after December

Second, look to watch football, at a younger level watching Barnsley excellent. At u18 level they are technically far better than most teams i've seen this year.

It should be brought back with evening kick offs too so more can get down to watch them. It gives the players more experience in playing in front of fans too. We said last summer fans would know when a practice match was made, yet that was another lie that we've come use to being told.

me & BMW use to go to every home reserve game for many years, but it got pathetic in the end. it was best when it was one game at home then one away. If it was back to the old system then yes. But not under this current system.

They play at 11AM on Saturday sometimes.
    Finish about 12.40
Time for a bite to eat and a drink before heading to Oakwell to watch the super reds. Not a bad Saturday.

So you're admitting you were wrong then to call for it to be scrapped?

I remember you telling us all how the reserves is a waste of time and money and the worst thing to happen to football since gazza.

He's missed the extra football. This season he's only been able to go to our home and away first team fixtures and the academy matches.

The situation in my minds changed Suertyke.
Somehow/ well done to the academy theres 5+ really talented players come through along with RNL.
The keeper if he signs and RNL can't play u18 football next season.
Only 3 of the current u18's will be able to play for u18's next season.
Digby probably will be in the 18 next season for first team most weeks and that will mean he's unavailable for u18's.
From what i'm told the current 16's are decent.

But reserves football is pointless isnt it? It doesnt matter how OUR situation has changed does it, you were quite vocal about the fact that it doesnt help players at all because other teams don't take it seriously and that playing against younger opposition players in the reserves doesn't help our players at all.

You said that ht old ****, several times.

I've always thought having a reserve team is a positive thing

Experienced pro's coming back from injury, or for whatever reason not being selected in the first team, can still get in some valuable game time. Young professionals can use the games as a useful stepping stone to the first team. Trialists can be played in them to give a clearer picture as to whether they have the necessary requirements being searched for by the management.
It is my opinion that doing away with a reserve team is something of a false economy.

Yes they did. Games in Sept/Oct used to be evenings, then from Nov-Feb/March they would be mid afternoons on a Wednesday. I used to go up cos I worked nearby and could finish at 3.
