Just because we've opted not to join the reserve team next season doesn't mean there won't be practice matches. There's every chance there will be more practice matches as we are in a position to be more flexible. It's not a cost cutting exercise rather an exercise in added flexibility and less red tape.
And it will actually involve players close to the first team, rather than being forced to play our academy team every week. F.ck it. Davey out.
Wolves played 20odd games last year against varying opposition, non league,Premiership and even European teams.I read where Steve Morgan has backed the scheme all the way and it has been viewed as a great success.
Wolves signed 7 lads from their Academy team last season. These lads go into this "development" squad and play most midweeks against all sorts of clubs. They use the process as a "stepping stone" to the first team. They believe that there are very few players who are physically developed enough at the end of their scholarship to play in the 1st team so they keep the better players for another two seasons to continue their development. The players are paid around £250 per week in the development stage. This was all detailed on the Wolves website last season. By the way, our Academy team drew 0 - 0 away at Wolves at the end of last season and we only signed Jamil Adam from that team!
Just do what we/ some/ all, do on here................... just make something up and then go on a crusade to prove it.. simples. Lets just hope that IF it doesnt work the powers that be have the balls to say so and find something that does
Wellsie, most people who complain on here about the reserve team not entering the league are fans who will miss the Wednesday afternoon treat! myself included, if the new development squad system works i`m all for it arent you?
