Think I'll be popping down so taken a quick look at the squad on official site. Why doesn't Steele get a run-out on these odd occassions. He hasn't been in goal since Cardiff at home 6 months ago. (N)

Davey said something once about not playing certain players in the reserves because he knows what they can do without wasting a place in the reserves that could be used to give someone more experience.

    Never understood that logic

I would have thought that playing in the reserves would at least keep the players in some sort of match fitness

Having gone for 80 mins tonight:

Leon - headless chicken, frightening how close he is getting to JCR
Butterfield - never got stuck in, his strength apparently
Heslop - workman like performance tried to creat lots through middle, but not good enough
    Noble-Lazarus - played quite well
    Adam - ditto

Agreed. Thought all three pros were ordinary at best. Most of youth players did well, had a right go. Back four had 3 year 1 youth playing against old pros from Bradford. They did great for me. Good result for Barnsley.

    Re: Reserves last night

If Jacob Butterfield is disappointed to be omitted from the 1st team squad, he certainly showed it last night with a sulking display. He never broke into a sweat all evening. He never put in a proper challenge and he looked like he had no interest in playing. The only person that will be pleased is the woman who launders the kit as she won't have to wash his! A very poor example to the scholars in the team.

    Re: Reserves last night

Ronnie Branson and the Youth team coach took the team but Ryan Kidd and Kelham O'Hanlon watched the whole game from the stand area.

sounds like jacob needs to perk himself up or another lad with talent goes dwon the pipe .I have always thought heslop has been worth a look at in the first team.iwth kids its either **** or bust and theres been plenty of bust over the last 6 or 7 years.
