Ok, it's never good to see the reds lose, but at the end of the day i'd much rather us lose a Carling Cup match to Burnley than start to f*ck it up in the league. Looking back at what Tarntyke said earlier about games being lost before they start, i can't imagine too many players getting enthusiastic about a mickey mouse cup game away at Burnley, as shown by Spurs tonight not bothering until they actually conceded.

Concentration on the league in my opinion is much more important and the rewards being much more use to team morale and supporter backing.

Feel free to say im wrong, but everyone's entitled to their opinion

AS you say, you are entitled to your opinion and I respect that.
However, if the clubs financial situation is as desperate as has been said, then we need to make as much cash as we can at every opportunity. These "Mickey Mouse" competitions as you describe them, are sources of income and the further we go in them, the more cash we can make. If the club is to become self sufficient, then we cannot afford to treat the Carling Cup or any other competion any differently to any other. They are all as important as each other!

would getting promoted be of better financial gain than the cup?

i totally agree. Cups mean nothing, the league did. Never expected a win tonight.

    Obviosly would have been nice.

    I think you're right

However, I also think that tonight more than adequately highlighted what a perilous position we are in regarding our cover for the centre half positions. Both Kay and Austin are good players in my book, but as a centre half partnership lightweight is a massive understatement. I hope it doesn't come back to haunt us again, but with the injury records of both Reid and Carbon I'm afraid it might. I think we should have done a lot more to make sure we had adequate cover for these positions during the close season rather than pin all our hopes of landing someone on transfer deadline day, which seemed to be the case if we are to believe the news released by the club.

Not that I'm blaming anyone for tonight’s result. We lost against a club from a higher division; despite our hopes it's to be expected. I just don't think we can hope to achieve anything this season with only 2 centre backs on the books.
