2 quality goals though and a clean sheet, so we must have done something right. But if you missed today's game don't get too upset, there wasn't a lot of quality on show.

We won, so I know that means I should be going mental, but to be honest I'm a bit worried about the quality in our squad. Not for this season, but for the future. Those that didn't appreciate Vaz Te, Butterfield and Drinkwater while they were playing must now see what a big hole they've left now they're gone.

Still, we won so well done Reds and well done Keith.

What did you make of Goldbourne on today's showing? A lot of Exeter fans didn't seem to unhappy that he'd left them.

Looks timid. Scared to get on the ball.

    Very quiet today

But only a plonker would be narrow-minded enough to write off a player without giving him a chance to prove himself first.

Golbourne played out of position and didn't look entirely comfortable with it. Scared to run at players, but defensively responsible. McNulty looked comfortable in central midfield, thought he did a better job of adapting to his position.

I didnt go today but did listen to the game and was thinking about the lack of creativity and how we were missing Vas Te and Butterfield - we dont now have the player who can produce the unexpected or that bit of magic that can turn a game.

That said its not surprising we have lost something when virtually our entire midfield has gone during January - its a good job Jim is back as it sounded like only him and Davies provided any threat today

Still we won and its always hard to play well against a team that has come to defend and just try to nick a goal from a break or set piece

I didn't think you were, mate

I agree with you with respect to the lad's nervousness.

Played on the left wing and did next to nothing

From what I understand he's a left back, so maybe it's better to judge him when he plays there. Doesn't look to have the skill to play left wing in the Championship.

We've got a squad full of grafters. When you lose your 3 best players within a month, you're always gonna struggle.

Let's hope Keef can find someone else like Vaz and Butterfield for nowt in the Summer.

The squad, as it now stands, would do amazingly well to retain its Championship status. Personally I think it would be beyond them. Not this season, we amassed a lot of points when the quality players were in the side, but I worry for next.

I'm assuming that if Keith Hill shares this view then the problem will be addressed in the summer.

    Re: Very quiet today

Hill seems to like using that left midfield position to integrate new people into the team. Maybe he feels it doesn't put them under so much pressure.

I wouldn't say he was out of position though, just poor.

    That is spot on.

Furthermore, in the meantime, the "entertainment" aspect has diminished markedly.

i liked watching Butterfield and VT.

Who's to warm the cockles now?

I thought Smith had a reasonable game today; would have been my MOTM if JOB hadn't have scored. Was this his last game - he did appear to be applauding everyone in the crowd at the end; I hope not, especially now that Perkins is b0lloxed for 3 weeks?

I agree to an extent, but what happens when the financial fair play rules come in? I'm not sure what the carrot or the stick is, but if clubs do 'play fair' then one of two things could happen (a) the general quality of the Championship will go down as clubs could not afford to pay the current calibre of player or (b) there will be a reduction in the average wage of players, potentially putting some better players within our wage structure. I suspect it won't be linear and there will be a bigger gulf between top earners and lower/middle earners.

There may be better options to strengthen next season within our budget.
