Now on official site http://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/article/barnsley-fc-retained-list-090513-814715.aspx Barnsley Football Club will offer contracts to the following players: Martin Cranie Tomasz Cywka Bobby Hassell Tom Kennedy Jimmy McNulty Jason Scotland Luke Steele The Club has released the following players: Matt Done Rob Edwards Stephen Foster John Rooney Barnsley Football Club would like the thank those released for their service to the club and wish them the best for the future.
£700k were did that figure come from Keefs head. Haif it and then tek a £100k off to be more nearer the mark.
Think we were offered £500k for Done. Didn't want to see him leave but shame we didn't cash in now when we had the chance. No mention of Harewood, is he on a longer deal?
I still can't believe that Fozzy is on the released list - I can understand the others but Fozzy is still good enough IMO.
The £500k was only ever paper talk(leaked by Hill himself?), £300k was the deal that can be attached to anyone from either club unless you can show me otherwise, I`ve asked this many times and no one has put any proof to back up the £500k.
some players still have 12 month left on their contracts but they did say 1 player to sort out and 1 player to go so watch this space http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/kelvin-etuhu/profil/spieler_45792.html
More amateurish communication. No mention of Etuhu and Harewood. Leading to more rumour and speculation. It's not rocket science to mention all the out of contract players is it? Either they will be offered a new contract or released. Or in Barnsley's case not mentioned at all. Doesn't really matter if Harewood is on holiday, or where Etuhu is. If they will be offered contracts the press release should say so.
The problem comes that if you are looking to release a player you can't really announce they are being released without first informing the player. So then it's better just not to include any player that hasn't yet been contacted. Of course what it should have said is "the following players are on holiday so details will be released once they have been informed by the club"
Maybe it were him or Bobby for the drop. Without Foster who is McNulty gonna blame everytime we concede?
We had an option on Etuhu for another year, so he's basically our player without having to offer another contract. He wasn't really out of contract as such. I guess we haven't mentioned Harewood as it would be unfair to tell the general public what is happening with him before Harewood knows himself.
A properly run outfit would have had contract offers in place and meetings to let the released players know immediately after the Huddersfield game. That way the players would know where they stood before buggering off on holiday, and a proper press release could have been issued that included all the out of contract players.
It was Flicker who decided who we should and should not keep rather than the club. I guess he didn't want to tell anyone they would be released until after the Huddersfield match to keep morale high. The first opportunity he had to do that was at the meeting he had with the players this week. Harewood happened to be on holiday.
Geez - folk want to moan about owt! It'll get sorted. Doesn't matter whether I know now or in a month or so. Doesn't seem to matter what communication the club put out, someone always complains, so then the club don't mention something and people still moan. Think I might give this site a wide berth for a month or 2.
Jay, where did the info come from with regard to us having the option on Etuhu for another year? I really hope this is true because he is massively important to us.
I think I already knew from recalling the conditions of his contract when he first signed, but Rob Staton from Radio Sheffield confirmed it yesterday on Twitter. He tweeted the following: #BarnsleyFC have an option on Kelvin Etuhu so he'll stay at Oakwell next year. Several out of contract players have been offered deals.
