Following on from Hemsworth's 'Danny Rose' thread, I'm intrigued as to everyone's thinking with regards to RNL. What do we do with him?
Send him out on loan. currently appears that he won't fulfil the potential he showed earlier on at the moment.
I think he's decent, and has shown to be when given a chance. But it's clear that KK doesn't agree, and so I'd suggest a loan move. Should be plenty of takers in the lower leagues. See if he performs.
Needs to first get fit for 3 month. Learn to open his mouth and start to demand the ball and he'll show the barnsley fans what he can do.
But, neither has Mellis according to KK and Flicker. But they're going to get it drilled into him. Same went for Vaz last season. So why not Reuben? Are we saying that Reuben and his attitude etc, is the reason?
He looks like he isn't going to make the grade at BFC. He has good technical ability but lacks in application. He might have to drop down to try and work his way back up. Unfortunately the things he is lacking can't be taught so he needs to change himself, maybe maturity will bring it.
But you have been saying that about him for a while Hemsie so obviously he will never fill his potential as a footballer at Oakwell.
loan him to rotherham or an other local lower league team for a few months to give him some more match practice
Send him out on loan to a League 2 or maybe even BSP team. He's a player that needs to work his way up the leagues, much like Nicky Wroe has done.
If the manager believes A spell out on loan would aid his progress, I'm all for it. It's far too early to write off his Barnsley career. After all, the boy only turned 19 last month.
The lad Definately needs games under his belt. Offer him out on loan till January and monitor his progress, if he improves give him 3/4 games in the first team if still no improvement get shut. Harsh reality is we can't carry players who can't make a contribution to the team. End of
I feel that those who never saw him perform at the academy level have never seen what he has got, because as far as I have seen, he has never shown his talent in the first team. That is partly successive managers' fault, and partly his fault. The managers are to blame in that none of them has dared to play him in his best position, which is in the hole behind the centre forward. He is explosive over 20 yards, he has good vision and he has a good left foot. It is his fault because endurance has always been a problem for him, and he has never really been fit enough. To contrast him to Dagnall who played in that position on Saturday, he has far more talent than Dagnall, but in the end, whilst we are so short in midfield, it is all about work rate. RNL is a risk that a team with a dominant mid-field can take, because of his creativity and flair. It is not a risk that the Reds could have taken at any time during the last 5 years at least. The lower divisions are even more about the work ethic, and on that basis I think that he would struggle to get a game. On balance, I would prefer to see Hillcroft wave their magic wand over him. If they can't improve him, then no-one will, but there is no doubt that his career is in the balance
