I'm planning a recce over the next few days to check on the resting place of our beloved founder. I live a mile away from the cemetary and am one of the last (north) London Tykes. I think a tasteful, commemorative tribute would be apt as we hit our 125th year? Some of my ex-exiled comrades put some fabulous work into the conservation of the Rev's grave and I would be more than happy to take guidance from them firstly. (They know who they are.) Still, it is all our history, hence this wider post - it would be great to bounce some ideas around? I'll be on hand to do the leg work locally as required. It's my shift now. Gally, run with this as you think best, flower. You Reds, forever... C
The supporters trust and London tykes arranged for the grave to be restored and repaired a few years ago. I believe someone is keeping an eye on it. There were some pictures on the trust website of before and after. They may still be in museum bit
Paul - I'll dig out the map and e-mail it to you. If not I can direct you to it anyway. There are little maps around the cemetery and all the roads/paths within the cemetery are named, so it's easy to find now. Was a bit more difficult to find when I didn't know where it was, when it was all overgrown and the headstone had fallen down mind, Took 3-4 hours in total! You'll need to take a load of cleaning equipment and some small secateurs, as it is really overgrown around the part where he is.
