Thank God for the academy Providing none league players for clubs the length and breadth of the country
Noble Lazurus - Yet to do a thing in the first team Flinders - without a club Austin - League Two R Williams - League One Eaden - pre-academy Kay - decent player and the best to come from the academy IMO but he's playing in League One so he is hardly a glowing endorsement.
The Academy has produced decent footballers. Flinders sold for over !m Lazarus rated 2m Austin,R.Williams and Kay have all played at a good standard and are making a very good living out of football Eaden was pre Academy but he still came up through the ranks at Barnsley. Liverpool havent had a player play for their first team from the Academy since Gerrard,Carragher and Owen with the exception of Jay Spearing who made a cameo appearance in the Champions league, shall they shut down their Academy as well? Have a listen to the Eric Winstanley interviews about the young uns coming through at Barnsley.
last I heard Ashley Scothern was at Ossett, Griff Jones at Bradford PA and most of the rest are probably slumming it at Stocksbridge PS, Emley and Frickley Athletic. The academy has yet to produce a player that has played regular football in the second tier for a prolonged spell
Ahhh yes Jacob Butterfield. Good enough to play in an FA Cup semi final at Wembley, but not to play in the league on a regular basis. Supertyke has strong feelings about this....
I may be wrong, but I though both Parkin & Morgan were products of the youth system in place prior to the Academy being set up?
