Unfortunately during the night World Rally Champion Richard Burns died of a brain tumour he'd been ill for some time.

Unlike other champions Richard had to work for his rewards ( unlike Colin McCrash given to him on a plate due to his father)

I was lucky enough to meet Richard on a number of occasions and his friendliness and down to earth attitude was a credit to him as well as his technical knowledge and natural ability.

He will be sorely missed in the Rally world R.I.P.

VERY sad news. I also met Richard Burns on a number of occasions as we were both part of the same driving group, although he left a few years before me, he always turned up a dozen times a year to see how it was going, and to take people round Castle Combe Race Circuit in his WRC 206.

    RIP Rich.

    That's shocking news. :(
I was a bit annoyed when he took the championship title from the Finnish drivers in 2001, but now I'm glad that he won it.
    Rest in peace, Richard.

    (RIP)

No idea. Definitely not at work, though. Honest.

    Very sad news.

Had the pleasure of interviewing him a couple of years before he won the World Championship, and you're unlikely to meet such a genuine, honest and driven guy.

    RIP.
