AS the new season gathers pace and the games come thick and fast, it has been especially hard for one Reds star as he battles back to full fitness. Midfielder Richard Kell was signed in the summer but is still recovering from a broken leg and told the Official Website it is hard watching the team in action after playing a massive part in Scnuthorpe's promotion campaign last term. Richard made more than 40 appearances for The Iron last season and admitted he is finding it a strange sensation not being involved. Speaking to the Official Website, Richard said: "I was really, really excited and nervous before the Swindon game but afterwards - even though I was pleased with the result - there was a part of me that felt empty because I had not played. It was a strange feeling and one that I want to get past as soon as possible. "Most people will not realise just how hard it is to sign for a club and then not play for so long. That is not what I was brought here to do - I was not signed to sit in the treatment room. I want to play and I cannot wait to do well for Barnsley Football Club. "I am really positive and I want to be back in mid-September. I want the surgeon to give me the all clear in a fortnight and then I think I can take huge strides in the right direction. The physios are really pleased with how much I have improved in the last month".

RE: Ode to The Isle of Wight by Richard Kell Just for information that you can pass on to Richard when you next see him. That almost sums up everything on the Isle of Wight except the squirrels, which are red... and the 3 prisons which aren't red, although sometimes they have a 'red alert' status. When they let an inmate out to go and buy some milk by mistake.
