i dont want to have a go at people knocking Richards so much, but just want to put my two penneth in.</p> How can people come on here when he is banging in the goals and praising Richards, and then he has a lean period, and throw insults at him. The guy has not stopped trying. He doesn't hide. He simply is out of confidence. When his confidence was high earlier in the season he looked great. Had he been in that form today, he would have had a brace, at least.</p> I know this is the wrong time to have a barren run, but you cant choose these things. Anyone who is a team player knows that your confidence can be shot at any time. And when it is shot, it can be very hard to regain. Its not the end of the world.......yet. We are back into the play-off positions (not through our results, but others' lack of). Again, our destiny is in our own hands. IF, and its a big IF, Richards can regain his form and scoring touch, the confidence will come flowing back. And if it does, the rest of the teams confidence we be back too. Next Saturday becomes a huge game now. We have done it before when up against it, and we can do it again. One player doesnt make a team, i know, but one thing is certain - we have missed Richards goals.</p> Lets go to Oldham next week, and get back to winning ways. It COULD be just the rebirth of our season.</p>
One further point I would like to make though..... Is that this team lacks passion compared to Barnsley of old.</p> When I first started going to oakwell in 89/90, we had players like Mark Smith, Gerry Taggart, Gary Fleming, Brendan O'Connell, Andy Rammell, Andy Saville and Mark Robinson. These players may not have been the greatest we have ever had, but they certainly showed more passion than this bunch of players. If a team looks like they are trying their hardest, people will be less inclined to moan at them. Out of the current bunch the only ones I can really say that do seem to go that extra mile on the pitch are Austin, Kay, Howard and Richards. I would be a lot happier with our efforts if we had a team full of these 4 players.</p> Sheff Utd seem to have this passion, why dont we?</p>
