Just found this on Facebook, dunno where this has come from, I’m guessing a paper... Where has the media got that figure for Lee from?I’ve never found anything concrete saying he is worth that much. All I can think is that Lee and co are putting that figure out there to make them look good. I’m don’t even believe that anyone on the board are multi millionaires let alone billionaires.
The companies they own might be worth that but that's different to what they have available especially in the current climate.
And if no new striker.. made a profit out of the pandemic when other clubs losing there bum cakes .. Takes some doing..
It won't be long before the cream rises to the top. I know I slate the owners but they are playing the long game and have a vision. That's why they are buying clubs around Europe. They're trying to mould a footballing empire based on youth and statistics.
I think our owners pride themselves on doing things differently. That might upset some who think if the monies there why not spend it. So what if we get hit with fines. I think they want to be the first billionaire consortium to reach the Premier League without bank rolling the club. They are in it for the kudos of achieving this. If they are billionaires I can't see any other reason they bought Barnsley. This may be why Cryne sold it to them. He had a dream of 11 Barnsley born players reaching the Premier League. What this consortium is trying to achieve deviates from that as they are scouring the globe for talent. However, they want to utilise the academy. It's a long game.
Because there is no solid proof anywhere stating that they are, other than what we’ve seen in the media and on Wikipedia. Wasn’t it last year someone discovered Lee’s company headquarters was actually an apartment in Florida? You only have to look at Lee and Conway’s businesses to see there’s something shady about them. Lee’s New City Capital website looks like it was created by a 12 year old for a school project with hardly any information on it about the company. Conway’s Pacific Media Group website last I checked (can no longer access the site) states that as well as investing into European football clubs, they have also financed big Hollywood movies, the latest being that Ad Astra, you only have to look at the credits for these movies to see none mention Pacific Media Group. Just all seems so suspicious.
If they're so suspicious why were Liverpool, Everton, Manchester City and Utd fans taking notice they'd bought Barnsley and why did the wider footballing world take note?
Were they? The post on Facebook where I took the graph from had 100’s of fans from other Championship clubs completely puzzled why our owner was listed as the richest, they had no idea who Chien Lee was.
The BBC message board after the takeover was full of jealous Man City and Man Utd fans accusing us of trying to buy success. That doesn't happen if the people buying the club don't have any clout.
If I didn't feel like that there would be no point supporting the club. You have to have something to cling to mate.
Whilst I have absolutely no faith whatsoever in the EFL fit and proper persons test, I'm sure that if they really were fraudsters without a pot to piss in, it would have become apparent by now. Chien Lee co-founded the largest budget hotel chain in China, which has 4 times as many hotels as Holiday Inn, and I know I've read that off the Internet, but I don't know what they could do to prove it.
Fair enough mate. I just don’t believe they’re as rich as they’ve been made out to be. I don’t think they’ve got some sinister evil plan buying us, in their own way they probably do have our best interests at heart. But it’s really difficult to trust these lot after a lot of false promises and fake truths.
