Please for him, played much of his career at lower levels and now gets a chance in the WC. Not often it happens these days. Makes you think about the £1m Southampton paid for him (from Bristol City) in 2009 before he went on to score 207 goals in 106 appearances for them. And folk say we get ripped off!
And this from when he made his debut. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/rickie-lamberts-parents-joy-rise-2172904#ixzz31VT1QbpK
I remember Lambert being linked with Norwich when he was playing in League 2 for Rochdale and apparently turned them down because he wanted regular first team football. Since then he's climbed the Football League, plays for a very good Premier League side, represented his country whilst also scoring on his debut and now playing at a World Cup. Surely it can't get much better......or can it
Re: course it can .... It was 117 in 235 games over three divisions. I think more players could do what he did but a lot of teams that get promoted to the Prem suddenly feel they have to spend all their money on a couple of eastern european strikers and don't give the lads that got them there a chance.
