We've not exactly had a hectic pre-season in terms of signings, right? So some fans (some, not me) may be a little disillusioned at this and may be thinking twice about how many times they get down to Oakwell this season.

So how can we get those fans to get down there? Well, for one- we could perhaps have a little hype from the OFFICIAL site. The last 'breaking news' story was on August 1st- about tickets going on sale. When was the last time there was a story on there about Richie- looking forward to the new season- or an interview with a player? Well, its been a while.

I know Rob Knowles is on hols, but that in itself is pretty shocking. The club clearly haven't got anyone who can type a story, or even cut and paste into a web page. That shows them to be inept in that sense. But Rob, if you're going away- whats wrong with a few stories for someone else to upload- especially this week. I'll get down there anyway come Saturday- but there could be and probably are plenty of folk who read that site for a bit of news. As if they are going to be tempted down there reading that!

Take a look at other clubs sites- all hyping up the new season- and what have we got? Good job we have sites like this.

Oh- and Barnsley World! Thats fecking worse- some of us idiots actually pay for that service. When was the last time an interview appeared on there? Bloody Kell, Howard and Hayes signing. That was literally months ago for christs sake- June 2nd.

What the hell are they playing at???? Its pathetic.

    Well......

..... one way would be to encourage young fans between the ages of 18 and 22, who are hard up students, to get down to the ground by offering a decent discount, both to make the matches affordable and to keep their interest alive.

But instead, they are expected to find £300+ for a season ticket, or pay £20+ on the gate.

Result - 13k+ empty seats, when possibly several hundred could be earning the club money, and at the same time capturing a very lucrative future funding stream.

Totally- but we're getting ahead of ourselves...

Surely some stories about our club on our own club's website is, shall we say, Key Stage 1 "Getting Fans into the Ground"

I know we are not a big club- but there must be loads of opinions within the club on how we may fare- how we are embarking on the new season, how training is going.

Does Rob, or the club care about it. They must think we don't- why else wouldn't they bother to tell us. I'd love that job- and I am sure the someone like Journo could give it a good crack. I don't think Rob K gives a flying ****.

    just to be devil's advocate...

I reckon cheaper tickets would bring more into Oakwell than whatever Mr Knowles and his appalling website could do. 22 ba5tard quid to watch Rotherham from the upper tier? Do the powers that be KNOW what division we're in? Do they KNOW what ppl (I'm not specifically meaning me here!) could spend 20 odd quid on rather than getting down to Oakwell to watch lower division football?

How much is a cinema tkt in Barnsley? Or pints during "happy hour" (or whatever they term special offer drinks)?

I think the club are pricing some of their own fans out of the market, which I thought only happened at Permiership level!!!!!!!!

And then there's the f***ing kit, with the sponsors name on the BACK. Now, I've just been abroad and I've seen the future of a BFC kit - it's riddled with sponsors names, head to foot, kinda like a formula 1 driver. OK, it LOOKS like they get lots of money (I'm thinking Swedish amateur lgs here) but it doesn't work like that here. Sponsors at our level pay to be the EXCLUSIVE sponsor and fans pay for a shirt - NOT to walk round looking like an advertising board describing all the wares of Oakwell sandwich shop.

There, 2 rants for the price of one. To be continued on Satdy - see you at St Pancras, Harrow!

Christ. FFS. Last year we signed 12 players and had a very poor season. We also over ran the seasons budget by Xmas. We've got dead wood that no one else wants to sign, hence we have to pay them. There is no room or money for anymore players.

Cryne, go one - chuck some money at it with little or no gaurantee of success. That'll work.

Get behind the lads we have got. Give em some support. You never know, if the grumbles from the crowd turn to encouragement then they may not shake like a sh1tting dog everytime they walk out at Oakwell.
