...come out to my flat and switch my phone line on.

I have a BT line installed physically, its just not active.

Or, can I just ring up any old firm like Bulldog or Skytalk and get them to switch it on? Never done this before.

    the funny thing is

no matter which service provider you use, it'll have to be a guy from BT who switches it on.

I have just been through a similar thing having moved to a flat without a physical line and had to arrange for BT to install it. I cannot articulate just how frustrating this has been, it is almost impossible to actually speak to anyone at BT irrespective of what time you try, to my knowledge in 3 weeks, nobody answered their customer services number, I sent 5 complaints by e-mail (the contact details are on the BT website) without response and wrote 2 formal letters of complaint (to which their website states that they will respond within 1 working day) and both were ignored

When the openreach engineers eventually came, some of the tales they told about our BT were shocking. I've got my phone line again now but I do not envy anyone having to try and deal with BT

    Don't get me started

Yes, they just have to flick a switch.

But you still have to schedule an openreach engineer to do it. And thats where I am having these problems.

And they're charging me onehundredandtwentyfiveb@stardpounds for flicking said switch. Or not as the case may be.
