Right, I've tried AVG and I can confirm that it's like running through custard.

    Avast and Avira are the other freebies. Try them. Avast uses less RAM so should be quicker.</p>

    Edit - Comodo now do a free one too. Not got any stats on how it compares speed or security wise but it's worth a look

    My Network Backup went from 9 Hours to 15+ Hours

    That was after upgrading from AVG 7.x => 8.5.

    It's no longer "overnight" by any stretch of the imagination. I logged a call with AVG, but so far I'm not best pleased with them...
