Nope Only if a team in the top 4 of the Prem are in the final do the other team get a place in Europe. It'll either be the winner of the FA Cup and/or 5th place in the Prem that gets the European spot(s).
Summat to do with Cardiff being welsh The Welsh FA Cup winners might get a UEFA cup qualifyng slot hence Cardiff could not get a place which is for an English team
Do Cardiff City enter the Welsh Cup? As when that was the case then they couldn't qualify via English competition - Swansea when they were in the old Div 1. Anyway - I want Pompey in semi....and I want is to win the Cup....European qualification comes with that but the important thing is having that cup.
RE: They have done recently I think... Since 1995, only clubs playing in the Welsh football league system have been allowed to enter the Welsh Cup. This rule excludes the 6 Welsh clubs who play in the English football league system: Cardiff City, Swansea City, Wrexham (the last English-oriented winner in 1995), Newport County, Merthyr Tydfil and Colwyn Bay.
Dave Richards reckons they have to qualify thru Welsh FA http://www.welsh-premier.com/news.php?ID=5644
reading that suggests if its us and Cardiff in the Final, then we may get into europe then without having to actually win the cup....C'Mon
i think we would have to win it as it becomes the FA discretion between the runners up and 5th place in the Premier
